Job Summary

Rhino & Lion Nature Reserve is recruiting for a Sales Manager, based at our safari nature reserve in Johannesburg, Cradle of Humankind.

The main scope of responsibilities will centre on the retention of existing clients, and to drive new business within the agreed rates and credit policies, by promoting the image and services of the individual business units and the hospitality offering as a whole.

Remuneration: R20 000.00 – R25 000.00 (Basic + Commission)

  • Grad e 12 Certificate
  • Tertiary Hospitality Diploma / Degree – essential
  • Tertiary Sales and Marketing Diploma / Degree – preferred
  • Strong computer literacy and experience in relevant computer programs
  • Strong report writing ability
  • 3-5 years experience in Corporate, Tour Operator, customer and/or leisure market sales in the hospitality industry
  • Experience in hotels, lodges and/or safari environment is highly advantageous
  • Applicants should be well spoken, able to work under pressure, have good customer relations and communication skills, good financial acumen
  • Own reliable transport and valid driver’s license
  • Excellent sales, negotiation and closing skills
General Outline of Duties:
  • Compile quotes for sales to agents/operators for the establishment
  • Rate agreements (pricing) for agents/operators
  • Ensure monthly and yearly sales targets are met including margin objectives
  • Call on existing clients and customers
  • Source new clients and customers
  • Build relationships within the industry (PCO’s, Travel Agents, STO’s etc)
  • Report on sales figures and handle a sales budget
  • Work in conjunction with the brand manager to align sales and marketing strategy
  • Handle Site Inspections with interested parties
  • Attend, manage and set-up expo’s and trade shows
  • Ensure sufficient sales toolkits and marketing collateral
  • Drive and convert headcount (feet) into the establishment with guidance from the brand manager
  • Position is 30% office based and 70% ‘in the field’
  • Positioning reports directly into the General Manager and a dotted-line responsibility with the marketing team
